Dr. Patrick Cook is an American tenor, voice teacher, and artistic consultant based in Berlin, Germany. Onstage he specializes in the heldentenor roles of Wagner and Strauss and has performed internationally in principal roles with the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Theater Aachen, Landestheater Coburg, Landesbühnen Sachsen, Annapolis Opera, Washington Concert Opera, and Wolf Trap Opera. His discography includes featured roles in Deutsche Oper Berlin’s productions of Schreker’s Der Schatzgräber and Zandonai’s Francesca da Rimini, both available on Naxos, and Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots with the American Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Inscape Chamber Orchestra, and New Dominion Chorale. 

Dr. Cook is an alumnus of the Wolf Trap Opera Studio, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Maryland College Park, Master of Music degree from Bard College Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School. With over a decade of teaching experience in higher education, he has served on the faculties at Towson University, Northern Virginia Community College and has led guest seminars at the University of Maryland College Park, MD/DC Chapter of NATS, and Wolf Trap Opera Studio. 

In addition to his work as a performer and educator, Dr. Cook has maintained an active presence in arts administration and artistic consulting. He was the Graduate Assistant for Cultural Programming and Community Engagement at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center during his doctoral studies. An active member of AGMA since 2014, he has contributed significantly to union governance, serving as a production delegate, negotiation committee member, and an elected Soloist Governor serving on the Work Rules and Contracts Committee and the Board of Governors, representing the Mid & South Atlantic region. Dr. Cook also played a crucial role in the creation and development of the Professional Development Program for Young Singers at the Potomac Vocal Institute, where he served as Executive Artistic Assistant. Since 2023, he has been the Social Media Coordinator for Wolf Trap Opera.

As Dr. Cook expands his career to encompass both performance and artistic consultancy, he remains dedicated to sharing his extensive expertise. Building on his own experiences navigating the international opera industry, he offers a range of services designed to equip artists with the strategic tools necessary for success. From interactive presentations like Oper Auspacken: Unpacking Opera in Germany to public masterclasses, private lessons, and personalized career consultations, Dr. Cook is committed to guiding and empowering the next generation of artists. His focus is on fostering collaboration and cultivating supportive artistic communities, ensuring that emerging artists have the resources they need to thrive.
